Central Teacher Eligibility Test CTET 2026 Notification, Apply Online, Eligibility, Fee, Important Dates

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the 21st edition of the CTET for February 2026. The exam is scheduled to be held on 8 February 2026 Candidates intending to apply must fill the online application form at the official website https://ctet.nic.in as soon as the link goes live.

The CTET is a mandatory eligibility test for those who wish to teach Classes I-V (Paper I) or Classes VI-VIII (Paper II) in central government schools (such as KVS, NVS) and other schools following CBSE norms.Clearing the CTET does not guarantee a job, but it is an essential certificate for teacher recruitment.

Eligibility

  1. For Paper I (Classes I-V)
    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education; OR
    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (for SC/ST/OBC-PH etc as per rules); OR
    • Graduation and passing or appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  2. For Paper II (Classes VI-VIII)
    • Graduation and passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education; OR
    • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a B.Ed.; OR
    • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a B.Ed. (for reserved categories as per rules).
      No upper age limit.

CTET Teacher Salary

  1. CTET Level 1 (Class 1 to 5) Pay Scale
    ₹9,300/- to ₹34,800/- with Grade Pay ₹4200/-
  2. CTET Level 2 (Class 6 to 8) Pay Scale
    ₹9,300/- to ₹34,800/- with Grade Pay ₹4600/-

Application Fee

  1. Only Paper 1 or 2 
    • Gen/OBC/EWS: ₹1000/-
    • SC/ST/PH: ₹500/-
  2. Both Paper 1 & 2
    • Gen/OBC/EWS: ₹1200/-
    • SC/ST/PH: ₹600/-
  3. Pay the Examination Fee Through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking/

Documents

  1. Recent passport-size photograph (as per specifications)
  2. Scanned signature (as per dimensions)
  3. Educational qualification certificates (mark sheets, degree/diploma)
  4. Valid ID proof (Aadhaar/Passport/PAN/other)
  5. Category certificate (if applicable)

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official website https://ctet.nic.in and click on the “Apply for CTET 2026” link.
  2. Complete new registration: enter basic details & obtain login credentials.
  3. Fill in the application form: personal details, educational qualifications, upload photograph/signature.
  4. Pay the application fee online via credit/debit/net-banking/UPI.
  5. Submit the form and download the confirmation page; keep it for future reference.
