TN MRB Assistant Surgeon Recruitment 2025

The Tamil Nadu Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) has announced 1,100 vacancies for the post of Assistant Surgeon (General) under Notification No. 17/MRB/2025. This large recruitment drive aims to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility

  1. MBBS degree from a recognized university.
  2. Must have completed House Surgeon (CRRI) duty for at least 12 months.
  3. Must be a registered practitioner under the Madras Medical Registration Act, 1914.
  4. Name must be registered in the Tamil Nadu Medical Council on or before the notification date (21 Nov 2025).
  5. Also, candidates must pass a Tamil Language Eligibility Test (SSLC standard) – minimum 40% marks required.
  6. Age Limit (as on 01 July 2025):
  7. Others (General): Maximum 37 years
  8. Differently Abled (Others): Up to 47 years
  9. Ex-Servicemen (Others): Up to 48 years

How to Apply

  2. Fill in the online application form between 21 Nov 2025 and 11 Dec 2025.
  3. Upload all relevant documents and photograph / signature.
  4. Pay the application fee online (if applicable).

Selection Process

  1. Tamil Language Eligibility Test
    • SSLC-level exam, qualifying in nature. Candidates need at least 40% to pass.
  2. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
    • 100 MCQ questions on UG-level medical science.
  3. Certificate Verification
    • For candidates cleared in CBT.
  4. Merit-Based Appointment
    • Based on CBT marks + any applicable incentives + reservation rules.
