The All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is the gateway for admission to Sainik Schools (including newly approved ones) for Class VI and Class IX for the academic year 2026–27.

Eligibility

  1. Class VI: Age between 10 and 12 years as of 31 March 2026 (i.e., born between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2016).
  2. Class IX: Age between 13 and 15 years as of 31 March 2026 (i.e., born between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2013)

  1. Passport-size photograph (10 KB–200 KB, JPG)
  2. Signature (4 KB–30 KB, JPG)
  3. Left-hand thumb impression (10–50 KB, JPG; right thumb if left is unavailable)
  4. Date of Birth certificate (issued by a competent authority)
  5. Domicile certificate
  6. Caste / Category certificate, if applicable (SC, ST, OBC)
  7. For defence category: Service certificate / PPO for ex-servicemen
  8. For students already in New Sainik Schools: Certificate from the school Principal confirming study in that school

How to Apply

  1. Go to the official AISSEE portal: exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society
  2. Click on “Apply for AISSEE 2026”, and complete the registration using a valid email and mobile number.
  3. Fill in the application form with personal, academic, and contact details.
  4. Upload the required documents (photograph, signature, certificates) in the specified formats.
  5. Pay the application fee via SBI payment gateway (Debit / Credit / Net Banking / UPI) and keep proof of payment.
  6. After payment, download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
  7. If needed, use the correction window (Nov 2–4) to make changes.

Exam Pattern (Brief)

  • Mode: Pen-and-paper (OMR-based)
  • Class VI: 150 minutes, 125 MCQ questions, total 300 marks (Language, Maths, Intelligence, GK)
  • Class IX: 180 minutes, 150 MCQ questions, total 400 marks. Subjects: Mathematics, English, Intelligence, General Science, Social Science.
  • Qualifying Marks: Minimum 25% in each section and 40% overall. (Note: This might be different for SC/ST; check the information bulletin.)
